Cancellations – Any cancellations of games due to bad weather will be announced on local radio. Such cancellations will usually occur only in instances of severe electrical storms, so it is best practice to assume that hockey will be on, even if the weather is less than inviting. Under 9s and 11s trainings on Tuesdays will be held at TAS if the weather is looking bad (3pm decision). Standard Junior School wet weather policy will occur whereby coaches will undertake indoor skills, fitness or tactical training. Please contact coaches directly if you are unsure. Under 13s, 16s and 1sts training will take place at UNE regardless of weather. Bring wet weather gear to training in case.

TAS Hockey mixing it with Australia's Best

Monday 29th February saw one of Australian Hockey's legends offering her skills and expertise to the Armidale hockey public through a series of coaching clinics and exhibition matches. The very talented Nikki Hudson, former captain and mid-fielder of the all-conquering Hockeyroos, delighted fans and players alike throughout the evening, demonstrating her keen knowledge of the game and superior fitness to play firstly in a women's exhibition game, before backing up in a very fast moving mens game.

Players from clubs throughout the Hockey New England association were asked to nominate players to play with or against Nikki, and from this the teams were selected at random. Many Armidale-based NSW and representative players were selected across ages 13s to Veterans, so the competition was fierce. TAS were lucky enough to manage four representatives in this rare opportunity, with Tyrell Champion, Michael Young (replacing injured Angus Begg), Vaughan Howarth and Will Chapman donning the blue or white shirts

. All of the boys played extremely well and conducted themselves honourably in the very tough and physical encounter. Tyrell and Michael's Blues were eventual winners on the night but all were glad of the opportunity to mix it with Armidale and Australia's best.
