Claiming travel costsBoarders' Parents please note:You need to use the form below to record travel to and from School if you are intending to claim a benefit from the Department of Transport for the use of your private vehicle.
Claim Diary - Use of private vehicle The Countrylink Bus ServiceCountrylink, in conjunction with the NSW Department of Transport, charters coach services for boarders to several key destinations.TAS is fortunate to be able to provide free bus travel to students travelling to and from their home and school at selected times of the year. These buses are provided for students to travel home at the beginning and end of each term (excluding beginning Term 1 and end of Term 4) and also on Boarders’ Weekends. (Boarders’ weekends are designated weekends - 1 per term). Boarding Houses are closed for the weekend and students are able to go home for the weekend. This is also a great opportunity for them to take a friend home. Countrylink chartered services go the following destinations: TAS - Muswellbrook / Maitland / Broadmeadow / Sydney Central TAS - Quirindi / Scone / Singleton / Gosford / Waitara TAS - Inverell/ Warialda / Moree / Walgett / Lightning Ridge TAS - Tamworth / Gunnedah TAS - Boggabri / Narrabri / Wee Waa / Cryon / Bourke TAS - Coonabarabran / Gilgandra / Dubbo TAS - Coffs Harbour / Kempsey / Port Macquarie TAS - Glen Innes / Deepwater / Tenterfield ..... and all points inbetween Booking forms are forwarded to parents in the end of term mailout and returned to the Student Services Office. New students should complete a bus travel application. Boarder passes are issued to students at the beginning of each year. Concession ID cards are available from the Student Services office for students that are over 16years. This ID card entitles students to travel at a child’s fare. All travel arrangements, bookings and cancellations, (except air travel) should be made through the Student Services Office (see over for contact details).
Other Bus Services Available to TAS Students  Kean’s Bus Service to the coastThis bus will collect students from outside TAS at 4.00pm on Fridays and it returns on Sunday afternoons. This is not a free service. Train to Sydney The train departs Armidale at 8.50am everyday day, arriving in Sydney at approximately 5.00pm. This service is free to home destinations. McCafferty’s/Greyhound Service to Brisbane This bus departs from the Tourist Information Centre daily at 9.45am (10.45 am daylight saving time) and arrives in Brisbane at approximately 6.15pm. There is also a service departing Armidale at 11.15pm arriving in Brisbane at 7.00am. McCafferty’s/Greyhound Service to Tamworth There is also a bus from Armidale to Tamworth on Friday afternoons departing Armidale at 5.00pm. These services are not free. TAS Mini-Bus If you live in the Tamworth, Gunnedah, Narrabri or Moree distrtcts, TAS provides a mini-bus service to these detinations for an additional weekend each term. Information regarding the date of this weekend is published in the weekly school newsletter – TAS Talks – www. as.edu.au This is not a free service. Weekend travel bookings must be made before the Thursday of the weekend exeat. All exeats are to be approved by the Housemaster prior to travel arrangements being made.
