James and the Giant Peach

TAS Middle School students will present a stage adaptation of Roald Dahl's beloved whimsical, insectical, fruity adventure James and the Giant Peach.

In Week 7 of Term 2, TAS Middle School students will present a stage adaptation of Roald Dahl’s beloved whimsical, insectical, fruity adventure James and the Giant Peach. All students in Year 6, 7 and 8 are invited to audition and be part of the fun and teamwork that comes with staging a play. Along the way we’ll be asking friends and family members to assist with costumes, set, props, makeup and behind the bar to ensure it is the exciting spectacle we’ve come to expect from our productions. The show will be directed by Mr Andrew Wheatley, assisted by Mr Andrew O’Connell and supported as always by the technical wizard Mr Michael Cornford and the TAS Technical Production Team.

The audition materials are all available in this handy booklet.  Audition Booklet

Students can pick TWO characters to prepare for the audition (though you can only do ONE if you choose) and we encourage you to practise them with character, voice and movement as I expect it will be competitive for the lead parts. And know that there are many more parts than just the ones listed here and every student will be able to be involved in the production. Auditions are Monday 2 and Tuesday 3 March in the afternoon in the Hoskins Centre and can be booked on the following link:

Audition Bookings
It is important that students know that to get a role, particularly a lead role, means committing to attending every rehearsal in the schedule and making it your priority. Attached is the outline of the schedule with all the times students will be needed to rehearse (it starts off nice and easy to allow for the demands of The Wizard of Oz). If you have any questions or concerns please let us know before you audition for a part. Students will be exempt from one afternoon a week of sport training to attend rehearsal.
