Chess Club The Junior School Chess Club involves boys and girls who have an interest in learning the game and playing against others. Competitions are held within the school, and students also have the opportunity to play against students from other Armidale schools. With a strong focus on general physical movement, it also introduces students to particular types of dance, including ballet, jazz and tap. Students perform at the end of each term. (Fees apply). Junior School Drama Club After the successful introduction of an annual Junior School Musical we have decided to start an afternoon Drama Club for students in the Junior School. Leasa Cleaver, TAS Classroom Drama Teacher and the Director of the Junior School Musical will teach these classes. Our goal is to introduce students to performance and to develop confidence and skills such as voice, body, creating characters and working with scripts – all in a fun, group environment. Drama Club will run for an hour after school during Terms 1-3.Term 4 will focus on rehearsals with leads for the Jr. School Musical. Classes are open to students from K- Yr 5 and will be held in Hoskins on a Tuesday afternoon from 3.45pm – 4.45pm. This is a Christian group open to all Junior School students from Kindergarten – Year 5. It is held every Tuesday lunchtime at 1:30pm in the ‘green room’ and is run by Mrs Jo Benham and a group of senior school student volunteers. It usually involves a few games, a song and a Bible talk and discussion run by Mrs Benham or one of the senior boys. Mrs Benham can be contacted at by email. daVinci Club The da Vinci Club is designed to encourage students who enjoy an academic challenge to join together on a weekly basis to attempt to hone their skills by attempting challenging problem solving . Students can bee seen huddled together to sharing ideas, arguing their opinions and collaborating with each other to negotiate a well reasoned response in each of the 10 disciplines that make up the decathlon. They are: Science, Creative Producers, Art and Poetry, Mathematics and Chess, Engineering, Cartography, Code Breaking, General Knowledge, English and Philosophy. Bible Club Held every Wednesday recess from 11.20am, Junior School Bible club is an opportunity for any students from Years 3 to 5 to meet together and read through the Bible. Girls meet with Mrs Benham on the lounges outside her office and boys meet with a couple of Year 11 students in Rev Newton’s room.
