We welcome you to this next stage of your child’s education, as they begin their HSC journey. Given current COVID guidelines, we are unable to meet with you in person and present this information to you, however, we are pleased to welcome you virtually for this experience. This week, students in Year 10 will be sent an initial preferences survey for the subjects that they would like to study in Years 11 and 12. To assist with this process, below are a number of important documents to help guide this process.
The Stage 6 Handbook contains important information about each course offered in Years 11 and 12 at TAS. Please ensure that you have read this document and are familiar with the expectations of each course and its assessment requirements.Stage 6 Handbook
It is important that students are aware of the policy for assessment in Stage 6. This document will be explored early in Year 11 with all students so they are familiar with what is required of them. CLICK HERE to view Stage 6 Policy.
Please read through the PDF version of the information concerning Year 11 and 12 at TAS, including subjects offered, timetable structures and how the HSC works. An opportunity to discuss this further and ask questions will be provided through a series of Zoom sessions.TAS Presentation
For those who are unfamiliar with the HSC and how it operates, this presentation is prepared by NESA and is a useful starting point for those who are looking for information concerning the HSC Credential and Minimum Standards testing.NESA Presentation
As we are currently living in a world where face to face meetings are unable to happen, our Director of Studies will be available in a number of different Zoom sessions to discuss the subject selection process further and answer any parent questions. Numbers in these sessions are limited, so please ensure you book your session by contacting Vickey O’Brien at [email protected]. Please ensure when you are booking these, that you include the email address that you wish to use to access the Zoom session.
For any parents who are unable to participate in one of our scheduled Zoom sessions, you will find the presentation in a pdf document below.
Please see below instructions for making these subject selections through Edval. The subject selection system will be open from Thursday 27 August to Friday 4 September.
Where to next?
Year 10 students will receive an email inviting them to submit their initial subject preferences through EDVAL. The subject selection system will be open from Thursday 27 August to Friday 4 September. Once all of the initial preferences are received, our Head of School and Director of Studies will determine the final subject lines for 2020. Once these are finalised, they will be published on this webpage. We anticipate that these will be finalised by the beginning of Week 10, Term 3, to allow students and families to make their final selections over the holiday break. Students will then submit their final choices, again through the Edval system, at the beginning of Term 4.
